💡 How Do You Validate Your Self-Worth?

Lately, this question has been sitting heavy with me. How do you define your worth when external validation isn’t coming from the people you want it from the most?

For so long, my identity was tied to my achievements in corporate America. There, validation was transactional—good performance equaled recognition. The titles, promotions, and feedback cycles created a system where I could measure my value based on others’ opinions. But now? Now that I’m out on my own, building something from the ground up, that kind of validation isn’t automatic. It’s not showing up in my inbox or coming from a boss. And that’s been unsettling.

I know I’m a good person. I know I put good into the world. But it stings when the people whose opinions mean the most to me—the ones I wish would acknowledge my efforts—don’t. And that’s where the real work comes in.

This week, I made a conscious effort to not give those thoughts energy. Instead of chasing approval that may never come, I shifted my focus to what truly makes my head smile and my heart feel good. I started leaning into something deeper: the idea that my lived experiences are valuable in ways I never anticipated.

When I launched my own company, I thought my technical skills would be my biggest draw. I assumed people would seek me out for what I could do. But the reality? They’re showing up for who I am. They’re drawn to my perspective, my journey, my ability to create spaces where real conversations about mental health and work culture can happen.

That realization has been freeing. It’s proof that our worth isn’t just in what we produce—it’s in the way we impact others. The lessons we’ve learned, the struggles we’ve overcome, the perspectives we bring to the table—that’s where our real value lies.

So, I ask you:
How do you validate your self-worth when the world isn’t handing it to you?
What legacy do you want to leave behind—not just in your work, but in the way you show up for yourself and others?

This isn’t just something to think about—it’s something to actively shape. Your self-worth isn’t waiting on a permission slip from anyone else. You get to claim it.

Let’s talk about it. Hit reply or join us on Discord—I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💬
