🚗 What’s Up with G-Rex & Dirty Skittles
🛣️ Taking the Road Less Traveled
Have you ever just hopped in the car, picked a direction, and gone exploring? No agenda, no expectations—just letting the road guide you? That’s what my wife and I did this yesterday.. After recording all day Saturday with Dirty Skittles, I officially declared the next day a Self-Care Sunday—and it turned into something kind of magical.
The plan was simple: stay local, maybe do some fishing. But instead, we pointed the car north and ended up at Fair Haven Beach State Park in upstate New York. Now, the fish weren’t exactly biting, but the drive? Stunning. 🌾 Mile after mile of peaceful farmland, quiet roads, and that sense of stillness you don’t realize you’re missing until you find it again.
We dipped our lines into the water for a bit, but soon enough, the skies shifted. Storm clouds rolled in, emergency alerts pinged our phones, and we knew it was time to pack it up. But instead of rushing home, we waited it out at a cozy little pub with some hot food and warm conversation. A good call, too—hail came down on the very roads we would’ve been driving on. Timing really is everything. ⛈️
On the drive home, we noticed something else: deer. Lots of them. The rain had disoriented them, and they dotted the fields like little reminders to stay alert, stay present. We got home just before the rain hit, safe and grateful.
So here’s your nudge: Take the road less traveled. Get a little lost. Create space for the quiet moments—they’re often where peace lives. I’ve got about 14 good fishing days left before the cold creeps in, and you better believe I’ll be spending them with my wife, soaking in every second.
What have you been up to this summer? Any spontaneous adventures? Are you taking care of you?

💡 Mental Health Quote of the Week
"You have to heal yourself—not for anyone else, but because your peace matters. When you choose you, everything starts to change." – Susan Snow
🎙️ This Week’s Episodes: The Final Chapters of Susan’s Story
In the powerful conclusion of our three-part series with Susan Snow, we explore what healing really looks like after decades of unresolved trauma. In Part 2, Susan walks us through the moment she finally found a trauma-informed therapist—the one person who didn’t just hand her a diagnosis, but gave her hope. Through journaling, breathwork, visualization, and boundaries, she began to reclaim her life one step at a time.
But healing doesn’t stop there. In Part 3, Susan opens up about the hard choices she had to make—including walking away from a toxic relationship with her own mother. She shares what it means to choose peace over pain, why forgiveness isn’t about the other person, and how she turned grief into purpose. These episodes aren’t just about surviving—they’re about rebuilding, reclaiming, and finally breathing again.
Whether you’ve lived through trauma, love someone who has, or are just beginning to explore your own healing journey—this two-part finale is for you.
Mental Health, Boundaries & Breaking the Cycle
Susan Snow doesn’t just tell her story—she uses it to illuminate the hidden ways trauma impacts our lives and how healing is not only possible, but necessary. She walks us through how trauma embeds itself in the body, how PTSD can hide in plain sight, and why walking away from toxic family patterns isn't selfish—it's survival.
From years of emotional pain to the hard-won clarity of setting boundaries, Susan’s voice becomes a guidepost for anyone learning to protect their peace. She reminds us that you can love someone deeply and still choose to prioritize your own mental health. Her message is equal parts tender and empowering.
💬 The strength in speaking your truth By confronting generational trauma and mentoring others through their own healing, Susan shows us that owning our truth isn’t just for us—it gives others permission to own theirs, too.
🫀 A quote that stuck with us
“Just because someone gave birth to you doesn’t mean you owe them a relationship—especially when that relationship hurts your peace.” – Susan Snow
🎙️ Real Talk from the Hosts
“Susan reminded me that you can love someone deeply and still choose to protect your peace.” – Dirty Skittles “She’s proof that healing is messy, powerful, and absolutely worth fighting for.” – G-Rex
📓 Reflection Prompts to Sit With • Where in your life have you been shrinking to keep the peace? • What would it mean to choose yourself without guilt? • Who would you become if you finally believed your story mattered?
🌱 Gentle Reminder Healing isn’t a destination. It’s a daily decision—a choice to show up for yourself with grace, courage, and the belief that your peace is worth protecting.
🎙️ Meet Our Guest: Susan Snow
🎧 Susan Snow is a speaker, coach, and author whose life took a harrowing turn when she was just 17 years old. On Halloween night in 1985, her father—LAPD Detective Thomas C. Williams—was ambushed and murdered. That moment shattered her world and launched her into decades of unprocessed grief, trauma, and PTSD.
But Susan didn’t stay in the darkness.
Through deep, personal work—including therapy, coaching, and soul-level self-reflection—she began the long road to healing. What emerged wasn’t just survival, but strength, purpose, and a calling to help others move through pain and into peace.
Susan is now the author of The Other Side of the Gun: My Journey from Trauma to Resiliency—a raw, deeply personal memoir that doesn’t just recount her journey but invites readers into it. It’s a hand to hold for anyone who’s felt the weight of trauma, the ache of grief, or the fear that healing isn’t possible.
🎙️ Through her speaking engagements and coaching practice, Susan delivers two signature talks that have helped countless people reframe their own experiences:
“Other Side of the Gun: Hope Through the Journey of Grief, PTSD, and Empowerment”
“Forgiveness vs. Forgetting”
In both talks—and throughout her work—Susan goes beyond inspiration. She creates a safe space for hard truths, for real guidance, and for the radical act of choosing yourself after being broken.
Whether she’s speaking to a stadium or one-on-one with a coaching client, Susan embodies compassion, clarity, and fierce honesty. She helps people break cycles, draw boundaries, and finally, finally believe they are worth healing.
PTSD doesn’t only happen to soldiers—it can happen to anyone who’s lived through trauma.
Healing is deeply personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all method.
You have every right to walk away from toxic relationships—even if they’re family.
